The iOS 8 SDK allows attaching all sorts of documents, but that is not what I have in mind, more inserting 
pre defined text blocks from a version control system.

The 'dispatch' mail app has this, but it doesn't seem to be extensible in any way.  You can import snippets 
from DropBox or Mail, so in theory we could ask them about adding support.  But import is not idea - 
really we want an active sync…

If you 'press and hold' you get options like 'quote levee' and 'insert photo or video' - this is ideally where I 
want to be able to 'insert snippet'.  But that is apparently not currently possible...

2015-03-17 17:12 AEST by Arthur Barrett - This can be done through an installable keyboard.  A dedicated button on the keyboard can be used to 
pull up snippets.

Unfortunately it means that if the user prefers to use a different keyboard that the function isn't available, 
and also installable keyboards are first available in iOS 8.

But at least there is a way…
